The Exhibition and Experience Design Handbook contains 12 chapters that form a methodology for designing successful and people-centered events and experiences. Each chapter begins with a commissioned visualization created by designers from all over the world that serves to demonstrate the diversity of the contemporary exhibition design field. Called the “Designer’s Toolbox” these visualizations summarize each chapter, and the technical design methods and ingredients that constitute each trope.
The visualization for chapter 12 was drawn by Magnús Elvar Jónsson who works for Gagarín studio in Reykjavík, Iceland. I recently visited the studio and also gave a book talk at the University of Iceland. Thank you to the Museum Studies Department for hosting me and to the students at the Iceland University of the Arts for allowing me to guest critique their final project which was to design a new festival for the city of Reykjavík.
