“A Radical Plan” community events and symposium

The exhibition “Village Homes: A Radical Plan” did what all successful exhibitions do – inspired related events and programming that engage the local communities. With the exhibition’s co-curator, Village Homes’ residents and staff support, I co-organized these events, marketed and set them up, moderated the agenda, provided remarks and gave presentations and exhibition tours.

Private reception – UC Davis Design Museum: remarks and exhibition opening for those directly involved in making the exhibition happen. This included Village Homes co-founders Mike Corbett and Judy Corbett, residents from the neighborhood, City of Davis and UC Davis representatives including the Dean of the College of Letters and Science. About 80 people attended. January 20, 2026.

Community Opening Event – Cruess Hall: Unitrans bus service for residents to attend, film screening, panel discussion about growing up in Village Homes, catered reception and live music. About 200 people attended. February 21, 2026.

Symposium – Cruess Hall: “Building Communities that Work: What Village Homes Can Teach Us Today.” Eight speakers with breakout sessions and catered lunch. About 60 people attended. May 2, 2026. The Symposium proceedings are captured here:
